City Utilities
Jackson provides municipal electric, sewer, and water services for almost all locations within the city limits. Solid waste pickup is provided for qualifying customers (single-family dwellings and duplexes).
Payment can also be made in person at the City Collector's Office located at 101 Court St., Jackson, MO 63755.
Other payment options:
- ACH payments generated from your bank’s web services (see your bank's website for details)
- Automatic withdrawal service (in house) on the 20th (first bank business day following) of the month (no added service fee)
- In person (entire bill required): Check, cash, money order, and credit/debit card (service fee for all cards)
- Night deposit box (stub required): Check or money order only
- Mail (stub required): Check or money order only (payment must be received by the due date to avoid penalties)
Signing on for utilities will require customers to come to City Hall (101 Court St., Jackson, MO 63755 8 AM to 5 PM) to sign the necessary paperwork. This process typically takes about 20 minutes but may take longer if multiple locations are involved. To save time please feel free to print and complete the appropriate customer application form below and bring it to the City Hall to the City Collector's Office. Below is a list of things that will be needed to complete the sign on process.

Please note it is the customer's responsibility to notify the City of Jackson when they are moving and they need utilities removed from their name. Failure to do so will result in additional bills being issued in that customer's name.
In order to remove city utilities from a customer’s name it will require the following information be emailed to the Collector’s Office or given in person at City Hall (101 Court St., Jackson, MO 63755 8 AM to 5 PM).
- Account number
- Name
- Service location
- Forwarding mailing address
- Updated phone number
- Effective/sign-off/move out date
Please note it is the customer's responsibility to notify the City of Jackson when they are moving and they need utilities removed from their name. Failure to do so will result in additional bills being issued in that customer's name.
In order to transfers city utilities from a customer’s name at one location within city limits to another location within city limits the City of Jackson will require the customer to come to City Hall (101 Court St., Jackson, MO 63755 8 AM to 5 PM) and provide the following information.
- Residential Customer Application or Commercial Customer Application Form
- New Customer Information Sheet (review this document)
- If renting, a copy of the lease for your new location
- Government Issued photo id
- Date you want utilities removed from your name at the old location
- Date you want utilities placed in your name at the new location
- $25 switch fee
Please note it is the customer's responsibility to notify the City of Jackson when they are moving and they need utilities removed from their name. Failure to do so will result in additional bills being issued in that customer's name.

To avoid a delay in processing any paperwork, any request for assistance should be in the utility account holder's name.
Please provide them a copy of your ID, your utility bill, and any partial payment receipts. Failure to do so could delay the process.
To assure your payment and any subsequent energy assistance received is distributed correctly, those customers seeking energy assistance are required to make payment in person at City Hall and should not pay via the online payment portal.
Note: Assistance programs are governed by the funding agencies' requirements; qualification for financial help is subject to their approval, not the City of Jackson.
Financial assistance is available for eligible utility customers through the Missouri Department of Social Services.
