  2. Sanitary Sewer Overflow into Ramsey Branch

This afternoon, the Wastewater Department discovered a sanitary sewer overflow on the east side of Jackson near Klaus Park Village Subdivision.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the force main from the Klaus Park sewer lift station had ruptured.  The lift station was immediately shut down and the leak stopped, but sewage was showing up in a ditch that leads to Ramsey Branch.  Emergency utility locates were called in, City crews excavated the site, and are now working diligently to make needed repairs to the sewer pipe.

Since the lift station was shut down, Wastewater crews have been using pumper trucks to keep the station pumped out.  Sewage from the station is temporarily being pumped to a truck and hauled to the wastewater treatment facility.  As of 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, Jackson crews report that repairs to the force main will be completed sometime later tonight.

However, due to this sanitary sewer overflow event, the City is required to instruct the residents and their families living in or near the subdivisions of Klaus Park Village, Ramsey Branch, Crystal Springs Estates, and Willowbrook Bend to stay out of the creek water flowing in Ramsey Branch until further notice.

Updates on this situation will be issued through media outlets as information becomes available. For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 573-243-2300, online at www.jacksonmo.org, or connect with us on Facebook.
