Position Announcement - GIS Technician
The City of Jackson,
Missouri is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of
GIS Technician
The position is responsible for creation and
maintenance of GIS maps and attribute databases from paper maps and files, GPS
data, and imported CAD drawings. Duties
also include GPS data collection, in-house and online GIS updates, in-house GIS
support, creation of display maps, development of property addresses, and
assistance with general office duties.
Applicants must have experience with GIS software,
knowledge of proper GIS and cartography procedures, and ability to read civil drawings
and legal descriptions. Must be
proficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel, and have good written and verbal
communication skills. Excellent organizational
skills, accuracy, and efficiency are required.
This is a non-exempt position with a minimum salary of $33,101.00,
depending on qualifications. Work hours
are typically M-F, 8-5, with no opportunity for overtime. The City of Jackson provides a generous benefit
