  2. Update on the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory - January 24, 2020

City officials have announced the precautionary boil water advisory is now lifted for all of the previously affected areas of Jackson.  This area included all addresses receiving water service from the City of Jackson with the exception of a specific area that included the subdivisions of Cold Creek Estates, Terrace Park Estates, Nine Oaks, Glendale Unit II, and Deerwood.

On Tuesday morning, City officials were made aware of a low level of chlorine within the City’s water system.  This low level was due to a malfunction in the equipment that delivers chlorine to the system.  Due to this low level, a precautionary boil water advisory was issued by the City on Tuesday afternoon.  All necessary repairs were made to the equipment that delivers chlorine to the water system and City crews worked diligently on Tuesday and Wednesday taking water samples to assure that chlorine levels were increasing throughout the system.  On Thursday morning, officials took another round of water samples to check the chlorine level trends and the City received positive verification that the amount of chlorine in the system has increased to MDNR-approved levels at all test locations.  Water bacteria samples were then taken and sent to an outside lab for testing.  The lab confirmed this morning that test results showed no contamination.

This confirms that the City of Jackson’s water is safe for consumption without boiling and residents can freely drink and use their water.  The City appreciates the continued patience and understanding of our valued customers.
